Programs and Activities

At Covenant Woods we know that living life at your best means more than staying physically healthy. To truly live life at its best means to be healthy in body, mind and spirit. So, in addition to supporting your physical well-being—whether through our nature trail, on-site clinic, state-of-the-art fitness center or other health-management tools—we have created a wide array of programs and activities designed to support our residents in mind and spirit as well.

Each day, residents enjoy chef-prepared meals in our fine dining room surrounded by friends. Our monthly calendar of events includes musical performances, lectures, classes and social gatherings. And a ministry of pastoral care that strives to support residents and staff in their own faith traditions forms an integral part of our common life.

Social Activities

Covenant Woods works to enhance the lives of residents throughout our community by providing a balance of activities in the cultural, recreational, spiritual, educational, social and rehabilitative areas to maximize independence, quality of life and leisure satisfaction.

Whether your interests are literary or musical, theatrical or all of the former and much more, Covenant Woods will likely have a program or activity you will enjoy. If not, just suggest it! Covenant Woods programs and activities are resident selected under the direction of the Resident Council’s Activities Committee. There are a wide range of opportunities designed to meet the diverse needs and interests of residents. Through a comprehensive array of in-house programs and knowledge of events in the larger community, Covenant Woods works to facilitate participation in programs you enjoy.

Therapeutic recreation activities are provided under the direction of our Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists (CTRS) for residents in the Health Care Center and for Independent Living residents as needed or requested.

Spiritual Activities

Covenant Woods is a Continuing Care Retirement Community historically related to the Presbyterian and Methodist traditions. As such, we understand the value of faith and wellness, and we strive to assist and support our residents and staff in their own faith traditions. To this end, we provide a ministry of pastoral care that serves to support diverse faith communities and promote a sense of spiritual well-being.

The chaplain is the Director of Spiritual Care at Covenant Woods and serves the residential community as a resource for spiritual concerns and support. The chaplain at Covenant Woods is a member of the Association of Professional Chaplains and an ordained minister.

Residents and staff, along with family members and other guests, are invited to attend worship services held each Sunday afternoon at 4 o’clock in the Multi-Purpose Room. The chaplain and/or pastors from the surrounding community lead worship. The Lord’s Supper is celebrated on the first Sunday of the month. Religious studies and special services are provided throughout the year in addition to weekly worship services.
