If there’s a theme that stands out from the moment you arrive on campus, it’s “green.”
If there’s a theme that stands out from the moment you arrive on campus, it’s “green.” Those greenspaces and protected lands begin at The Spring, a centerpiece and showpiece welcoming every guest and resident at the entrance to Covenant Woods. Designated by the Commonwealth as an official Virginia Treasure, The Spring offers native trees and plants and pervious pavement that avoid runoff and support sustainable growth. Two bridges span a small creek that flows into the Spring, home to a small family of ducks.
The Spring was designed in part by Virginia Tech Landscape Architecture students, with an eye on creating a therapeutic landscape that appeals to older adults. We have also hosted tours of The Spring with landscape architects, professors, and professionals from across the Mid-Atlantic region and played host to the Therapeutic Landscapes for Older Adults conference, presented by the Virginia Chapter of American Society of Landscape Architects.
We invite you to visit and explore Covenant Woods. Stay for an hour, a day, or even an overnight. Make yourself at home before you call Covenant Woods yours.
