Charm, adventure, and beauty in Hanover

The Covenant Woods community is centrally located in the greater Richmond area, yet provides residents with a quiet and quaint quality of life that comes with a more rural setting.

Mechanicsville and Hanover County are as rich in history as they are in things to do, filled with Civil War battlefields and artifacts, rivers, historic buildings, shops and restaurants, and parks for hiking and picnicking. When you feel like dining out, you’ll have plenty of options nearby – including the storied Hanover Tavern – or you can make the drive into the city for restaurants recognized by food critics as some of the best in America. And of course, you’ll find plenty of farm stands selling the iconic Hanover tomato.

One of the greatest benefits of living in the Richmond area – and therefore, Covenant Woods – is our proximity to other places. Considering our community is:

  • 20 minutes from downtown Richmond
  • 45 minutes from the Rappahannock River and the Northern Neck
  • One hour from the Blue Ridge Mountains
  • 90 minutes from Washington, D.C. (traffic notwithstanding)
  • Two hours from Virginia Beach

“Many couples here are very active and they are out-and-about all the time. To get to Richmond is no effort and not an issue. But for me? I have no desire to go out! There’s plenty to do right here.”
