Volunteerism at Covenant Woods

For 139 years, volunteers have touched the lives of residents of Covenant Woods and its predecessor, The Richmond Home for Ladies. Today, volunteers at Covenant Woods participate in a wide variety of activities, ranging from leading creative arts classes, serving as dietary aides in our Healthcare Center, to participating in college internships. Over 180 volunteers from local churches, area schools, the Covenant Woods community and the Greater Richmond community support the programs and activities of Covenant Woods.

Interested in volunteering? Please fill out the online Volunteer Application linked below. After receiving the application, the Volunteer Coordinator will follow up with the prospective volunteer. A volunteer orientation will then take place. After the volunteer has been vetted, they will be given their first assignment on campus and officially become a part of the Volunteer program.

Volunteers must be 15 years of age to volunteer without an adult. Please note Covenant Woods does not offer court-referred volunteer hours.

The Guild is a volunteer group exclusively committed to promoting the happiness, comfort and welfare of Covenant Woods’ Manor East residents, which includes Healthcare, Assisted Living and Memory Support. These volunteers visit residents, sponsor special monthly programs, run The Ruth Shoppe and assist with seasonal activities. The membership primarily consists of representatives from the United Methodist and Presbyterian churches in the Richmond metropolitan area, but all are welcome.
The Guild meets the first Monday of every month at 10:30 a.m. at Covenant Woods. This historic group has had the same meeting time for 129 years; please consider joining!
